Fetch’s Fetching Fifty Linden Friday Bed

This Friday, January 15th, Fetch has a great deal on their Sloppy Bed. You can buy either the PG or Adult version for only 50L. If you chanced to catch my previous post on the KraftWork Murphy Bed, you know how I adore furniture with options.

What I love about this bed is it’s Hudful of multi-options. allowing you to customize the look and use the bed in different decor styles. You can change the headboard, mattress, cover, and pillows. In this post, I wanted to style simply, letting the bed shine. In the pic above, I channeled mid-century modern, pairing the bed with the Salt Center table and Haikei Sentimental Reason Gacha 3. The shoot was done in my DaD Stonewater House. The stylings below are NOT all the options, just some of my favorites, quickly done so you don’t miss the sale!

House Tours with Hamish: Livin’ la Vida Linden

Shortly after returning to Second Life after a bit of a break, I was able to move into a Victorian home in Bellisseria. Shocked at how lovely they were, I decked out one of the homes and then did a little video on it. You can see that here if you like.

After Christmas, I decided it was time for a change. I lucked out and almost immediately after I abandoned my Victorian home, a Traditional one was available. So I packed my bags and moved! And after looking at the options for a Traditional Home, I went with the Alderley. I loved that it was a one bedroom but was sad that the original home did not have space for a kitchen. Off I went to the Second Life Marketplace in search of possible Add-Ons. The one I found that I thought had the most potential was the D-Vine Designs Belliseria Traditional Alderly Add-on. It consists of a bonus room, wrap-around porch, patio, and pergola. The home with the add-on can be seen in the pics below.

With that, let’s go on a tour! The front door opens up to the living room, with the bathroom to your immediate left and the bedroom further in on the left side as well. All the pics from the tour are how the home is decorated and lived in. You get 351 prims with the Traditional Linden homes and all but 18 were used.

I don’t know about you but I love using a room divider to give a little more privacy to the toilet area! The one below is from Merak.

In the Bathroom: Apple Fall Palisades Pendant Lamp – Black

In Linden homes you are unable to customize the flooring per room, the selection is for the entire house. In order to have a carpeted bedroom, I created a floor and added the Berber carpet texture to it that is provided in the Linden Home Traditional Content Creation Pack to it. Voila! Carpeted bedroom!

In the Bedroom: ::no13::002_02 wood & iron lamp
West Village Clinton Bed, White Linen and Eleanora Bedside Table – Chalkboard

dust bunny violet vanity desk (Fatpack: comes with all decor seen on main surface)
dust bunny wanderlust rose teacup
Soy. Flower Stool [for vanity table]

Another Add-on I discovered was the Fayded Alderly Partition. I used it in the “bump-out” area of the bedroom to create a closet for myself. The add-on places itself once you rezz it so it was super easy! And at 150Ls and 2LI, well worth it.

In the Closet: BLACK NEST / Hohto Messy Clothes – Light, Garbaggio // Shoe Boxes, Tres Blah – Slumber Party – Overnight Bag,
dust bunny . clothing rack . colorful, and Haikei Take Me Away Gacha 1 (table)

The D-Vine Designs Add-on allowed me to place a kitchen and sitting area in the back. The French doors to the bedroom and backyard that are included in the add-on are a lovely touch. This add-on was NOT an auto place, so I did have to spend a bit of time placing it just right. But the wonderful thing about this add-on is that it works with the custom colors for the Linden home, so you can perfectly match, the floors, walls, and roof colors. It’s pricey at 525Ls, and has a land impact of 36, but really adds wonderful space to the home. To note: Both Add-ons are available on the Second Life Marketplace.

Kitchen and Sitting area

Apple Fall Fulwood Chairs, Designer Books, Penrose Task Lamp, Tall and 1st Day of Christmas Coffee Maker and Cup
Trompe Loeil – Paxton Log Coffee Table
Haikei Soft & Dreams Gacha 3 (side table)

And finally the backyard, I could have gone to the very last prim and decked this out, but I chose to place a simple picnic table from DO Designs. It’s a fun, fab low impact deal for 79 Lindens, complete with adult and cuddle poses as well as foodie poses, chat poses, reading and drinking poses in case you want to hang out outside.

Until next time, Hamish and I bid you a fond farewell!

For the Love of…Books!

Welcome to the first of what I plan to be many “For the Love of…” posts. One of my favorite things to do in Second Life is acquiring homes and decorating them. I find it a fun, creative, relaxing outlet for myself.

I like to use a mix of old and new items from creators. And in doing so, I’ve discovered many items I love…usually they are those “little things” that really help make a home feel, well, like a home! These “For the Love of” posts will feature such items. And first up–books!

The library

The Apple Fall Scandinavian Barn home has the perfect corner nook under a set of stairs in which to place a library. Most of the pieces of furniture and books in the scene above are from the Apple Fall Black Friday sale shopping spree I went on, and they are as follows: Mercantile Bookshelves, Fulwood Chairs, Plan Chest, Penrose Task Lamp, and the West Village Althea Rug. The plant and ladder are from Haikei Gachas: the Soft & Dreams (7) and Take Me Away (4).

Besides Apple Fall, there are also books and objects from Haikei, Dust Bunny, Cheeky Pea, Nutmeg, Floorplan, and What Next, and :: db :: design. Most, if not all, are available on the Second Life Marketplace.

Some favorites of mine for filling out shelves and placing on tables and desks are below:

Clockwise starting from top left (click on pic for larger view):

  1. Tabletop: Floorplan open book, Apple Fall Design Books
  2. Long rows of books: Cheeky Pea: Jake’s Gardening Books and Falling Over Books and ::db design:: Five Piles of old Books # II and #IV (on MP as inworld shop is closed)
  3. Candle pic: Dust Bunny melted candle from As the Leaves Turn Gacha (In background: Apple Fall Argentinian Malbec and Wine Glasses, Tied Books and Books – Arrangements 2, 7, 8, 13 and Nutmeg Musical Escape Gacha Dark Books)
  4. Apple Fall Books – Arrangement 6
  5. Apple Fall Books – Arrangement 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 12 along with Haikei Brownish Colored Gacha 7 and Dust Bunny Sweet Dreams Books
  6. Ariskea [Delights] Candle and Books

If you are not one with patience to fill empty shelves on your own, there are plenty of pre-filled options out there like the one seen below:

Apple Fall Fairfax Sideboard

The Fairfax sideboard comes with all those books inside! Also seen in the pic from Apple Fall: Single Cut Hydrangea – White, Globe w/ Books – Cream/Grey, and Original Artwork: Crocosmia Study.

Up the stairs in the background are items being selected for my next “For the Love of…” post. ART! Stay tuned….and thanks for reading! Special thank you to my friend Nicola, for lending me some books for this post!

Marvelous Multi-Option Murphy Bed

Oh wow do I love furniture with options! I had such fun playing at styling the KraftWork Modern Murphy Bed, available at the Anthem event through January 30th. 599L for the PG, 899L for the Adult.

The main pic above is a combo I just loved, and shows the set with the doors closed. The pictures shown do NOT come with the set, they are Apple Fall Botanical Prints 1, 3, and 5. The art added to the wall of the set was hidden upon closing the bed, very cool.

Three pieces make up the set, the middle with the bed, and two closets that open and close. One closet leaning towards the masculine with a suit jacket, the other feminine with a sweet top and shoes. It also comes with a HUDful of options, which allows you to create a number of looks. I also styled it in a masculine and then a more feminine way just for fun, see pics below!

Beyond the Holidays

After the holidays is a new year with new beginnings. Happy New Year and welcome to my first blog post!

The Dust Bunny Tinsel Living Room set was a delight for Christmas, and because of its neutral colors, the main components of it–the sectional, sofa, coffee table, and rug–make for a sweet set to use beyond the holiday season. I think I’ll use mine all winter, it has such a cozy feeling.

Also, the Apple Fall Scandinavian Barn has become an obsession. Having scored it at the 50L Black Friday sale, I had no idea how lovely it is until I was able to rez it after the holidays. Look for some more scenes featuring this wonderful home soon.

Weekend Sale Steal!

Don’t miss this sale this weekend! Scarlet Creative is offering their Ana Loft for 75L! The furniture pack, some of which is featured here, is also on sale for 199L. Such a good deal I couldn’t resist! When the Scarlet Creative group notice went out, I got so excited I stopped what I was doing and went into a decor hole till the wee hours with this one. (This is not a sponsored post, I really did just love it).

I imagined it as a lovely work/live studio loft, with the partitioned room serving as a photography studio. The furniture from the furniture pack in the above picture are the sofas, rug, coffee table, and the rustic table and chairs seen in the foreground (items on table not included).

The numerous windows in the loft allow wonderful light to come into the loft and make it feel spacious and open. The artwork on the far wall along with the radiator and decor on top of it, as well as the kitchen (minus the wall decor) all come in the furniture pack as well.

I turned the upstairs loft into a bedroom space for myself. All items seen here are from my inventory. They include pieces from Haikei, What Next, Dust Bunny, Black Nest, Nutmeg, and Your Dreams.

And the balcony space is to die for, especially if you live facing the ocean as I do. This is giving me a little taste of summer even though it’s still winter where I am living at the moment. I love how the window opens up from the loft to allow access. The blue tile on the floor of the balcony area is such a nice touch. The two yellow patio chairs with blue patterned cushions are included in the furniture pack. The other elements are my own from Concept and 22769.

The furniture pack is well worth the 199Ls. The textures are really nicely done. I love little details like the apron hanging over the back of the chair and the distressed look added to some of the pieces. Below is a gallery of some of my favorites. The ladder on the landing leading to the bedroom is such a nice touch. To note: the hanging chair with yellow cushion is from Concept Malui gacha. The plants seen in my pics are from Hive, Concept, Milk Motion, Chez Moi, and Mithral.
